Last night the PIC team attended the inaugural ISC International School Awards, (formally British International School Awards).
It was a wonderfully glamorous evening at The Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London.
We were humbled to see so many legendary individuals from the international schools community coming together to share and celebrate each other’s successes.
We made lots of new friends at what was our first appearance at this event. I was delighted to be sitting next to Nicola Singleton, the Whole School Head of a prestigious school in Cairo. It was interesting to hear about the current political situation in Egypt and how this can impact on her ability to recruit.
Tee Malik, PIC’s Recruitment Project Manager, was perfectly placed next to a wonderful Mandarin teacher from Dulwich College, Shanghai. He was heartened to hear that there has been a notable improvement in gender equality in China over the past 15 years. In addition Natalie Stevens of Dulwich Colleague, Beijing explained that the level of pollution in Beijing has significantly improved in the 4 years she’s been living and working in the city. Tee is currently managing a large teacher recruitment project for South East China.
I also found myself next to Adewale Akinwunmi, who heads community services and co-curricular activities for Corona Secondary School in Agbara, Nigeria. Our parent group, MBU Capital has recently taken ownership of Nile University in Abuja and so it was great share our plans with Adewale and hear about the vast amount of community work they are doing locally.
Finally, congratulations again to JESS Dubai for winning the Innovative Use of Technology Across the School award – Paramount was proud to sponsor!
Thank you for a fantastic evening everyone, wishing you all the very best in the coming year and we look forward to celebrating them in 2020.
